(1) After the indictment has been registered, if the defendant is present with the indictment, action shall be taken immediately after taking his statement. But if the defendant refuses to make a statement immediately and asks for time to submit a written reply, he can be given seven days to do so.
(2) If the defendant does not appear in court, a deadline must be issued in his name within three days.
